Poured at Pichet – An Italian Winter Wine Pairing

25 January 2026 03:00 - 06:30 Pichet, 13/14 Trinity Street

Poured at Pichet

An Italian Winter Wine Tasting Experience at Pichet with Zeni Italian Wines.

This January, Pichet is bringing a new wine experience all the way from Lake Garda. This Winter Wine exclusive paired experience is guaranteed to be the best evening of fine dining in January.

If you are a wine connoisseur, or are curious to learn, we are welcoming a member of the Zeni Wine Family to guide guests through the journey of how wines are made, and will teach you how to perfectly pair your reds and whites.

Chef Harry will be preparing an Italian inspired 5 course menu.

Italian wines are best served in the colder months, with their full bodied taste pairing perfectly with the hearty dishes of winter. Italian reds are high in tannin and acidity. In summer, that can feel heavy, but in winter, when your palate wants something robust and warming, that structure feels just right. Italian whites can brighten even the gloomiest of days.

With a selection of dishes paired by our Michelin Bib Gourmand chefs, the taste of Italy will be the perfect evening to bring back memories of Apres Ski in the mountains.

About Zeni Wines:

For five generations, the Zeni family has preserved a centuries old tradition and a passion for wine that reflects the essence of their territory. The history of the winery dates back to 1870 when Bartolomeo Zeni: began to transport food and wine to the small villages along the shores of Garda Lake. His son Gaetano continued on the family trade, until his son Francesco dedicated his life to agricultre. Soon, his brothers Faustino and Ernesto began commercial devolopment of the business, whilst Faustino continued his love of agriculture and dedicated himself to vineyard care.

Sitting in the hills of Bardolino, an enchanting village on Lake Garda, the Zeni Family has spent 150 years growing and producing some of Verona’s finest wines. With over 60 acres of vines, the family operate two wineries, one in Bardolino and another in a town just east named Valpolicella.

Once home to the Guinness family, the 800-year-old estate spans 350 acres of woodland and gardens. Following a meticulous restoration by Red Carnation Hotels, Ashford Castle continues to set the global standard for luxury hospitality, celebrating ten years since its grand reopening in 2015.

Chef Liam Finnegan:

Hailing from the coastal town of Carlingford, in County Louth, Liam Finnegan has had a life long love of food and cooking. From growing vegetables in his childhood back garden, baking brown bread in his grannys kitchen, to studying culinary arts in Dundalk Institute of Technology, Liam says his upbringing has had a huge influence on his approach as a chef, with a love for bringing a homely twist to his meals.

Leading the culinary direction at Ashford Castle since 2023, Finnegan is known for his refined take on modern Irish cuisine, shaped by years spent in some of the UK and Ireland’s most distinguished kitchens. His dishes are renowned for their depth of flavour, precision, and respect for locally sourced produce – values that align perfectly with Pichet’s own philosophy.

Speaking ahead of the pop-up event, Ashford Castle’s Chef Liam Finnegan said: “What excites me most about this collaboration is the shared respect we all have for Irish ingredients. It’s about letting great produce speak for itself, and when chefs with the same passion come together, something special happens. I can’t wait to bring a taste of the West and Ashford Castle to Dublin and create an evening that’s all about craft, connection, and flavour.”
